300 year history of renewable energy

Alternative Energy Videos:

This clip from Nobody’s Fuel, comes from Section 1: Prisoner’s Dilemma — fossil fuels & what energy means to us. This clips describes the history of renewable energy and how our energy supply changed from 100% renewable in the 1800s to 9% today, comprised mostly of hydro power. An interesting point raised is the switch from biomass (firewood) to stored solar energy (coal) as trees began to become scarce in England and the USA.

Nuclear power isn’t renewable, but will last thousands of years – in opposition to coal or oil…
And if we will manage to build nuclear fusion plant there will be many more thousands of years with cheap energy :-)

Market economies require exponential growth in energy consumption 90% of which is consumed by the markets themselves. We must replace market economies with steady-state economies that can easily run on renewables other than nuclear. My analysis of the problem is completely contained in “On the Conservation-within-Capitalism Scenario, which google.
